Great Snipe

Certainly the best bird of the week was the Great Snipe which for two days made its home Warrenby Cottage car parking area.

Showing no regard for the Birders around , it fed up throughout the day and became the most photographed bird of the week ( probably just behind the previous weeks Wryneck ).
Having only ever seen one before and at great distance in bad light this was a treat and a half.Whether there has ever been one quite as "friendly" I dont know , but I would think very hard to find

Unfortunately there had to be trouble. After being centre of attraction for two days , the dead body was found early morning , having been attacked and killed by either cat fox or other predator
Terrible end to a lovely bird , but nature will be nature
